Gugulethu-Sofia Mbatha or Gugu Mbatha Raw is an actress British actress who gained notoriety for her part in 'Doctor who.' This British television science fiction series airing by the BBC. Her mother was employed at home and her father sold used cars. Her mother was the daughter of a German immigrants who arrived in the United States in 1958. She had been diagnosed with breast carcinoma in 1989. Handler was raised in the family of a Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler had a happy and healthy childhood living in a posh neighborhood. In her early twenties she moved to Los Angeles in order to explore acting. Handler had to turn into an actress to live. Handler started doing stand-up comedy full-time after she was 21. Handler had realized that she was gifted with storytelling. Handler began her stand-up career joining the female-only Oxygen team, and was a part of a television show called Girls Behaving Badly. The series was famous for its hidden camera and humorous jokes. The show ran from 2002 to 2005. The host then appeared in other programs such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was also a correspondent for The Tonight Show. Handler got her big break in 2006 when she started host her own program on E! The show was named the Chelsea Handler Series. It lasted two seasons. Handler followed this up by doing a show in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour, which was a tour in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend as well as HBO have aired her stand-up comic performance. The show was announced as the host of The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in the year 2010. This made her the first woman to host VMA's after Roseanne Barr.
